Privacy Policy
Wiki Capture is built on a simple principle: your data stays on your Mac. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, and how we protect it.
What we collect
We collect: • Your email address (when you create an account or join the waitlist) • A hashed machine identifier (SHA256 of your Mac serial number — not reversible to your serial) • Which app was active during each capture (e.g. "Safari", "Slack") • Token counts and API costs per capture (for billing and rate limiting) • Timestamps of capture activity We do not collect: • Screenshots or images (processed and immediately discarded) • The content of your summaries (stored only on your Mac) • Your browsing history, messages, or documents • Any personally identifiable information beyond your email
How screenshots are handled
When your Mac captures a screenshot, it is: 1. Compressed and sent to our servers over HTTPS 2. Processed by Claude's vision model to generate a text summary 3. Immediately discarded — never written to disk, never logged, never stored The resulting text summary is returned to your Mac and stored locally in your buffer database at ~/.wiki-capture/buffer.db. This file never leaves your machine unless you explicitly enable sync (a future feature).
Where your data is stored
Summaries and wiki pages: stored locally on your Mac only. We have no copy. Account data (email, subscription status, machine registration): stored in our Supabase database hosted in the United States (AWS us-east-1). Usage logs (machine ID hash, token counts, timestamps): stored in our database for 90 days, then permanently deleted.
Third-party services
We use the following third-party services: • Anthropic — processes screenshots via Claude API (images discarded immediately) • Stripe — handles payments and subscription management • Supabase — stores account and usage data • Resend — sends transactional emails (account confirmation, onboarding) • Vercel — hosts our website and API Each service has its own privacy policy. We do not sell your data to any third party.
Data retention
Usage logs: deleted after 90 days Account data: retained while your account is active Waitlist emails: retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion To delete your account and all associated data, email data@wikicapture.com.
Your rights
You can: • Request a copy of all data we hold about you • Request deletion of your account and all associated data • Unsubscribe from emails at any time • Remove connected Macs from your dashboard at wikicapture.com/dashboard/machines To exercise any of these rights, email data@wikicapture.com.
